Peace and war is a continuous cycle. There are many factors that play into the transitions from one to another, such as the pursuit of wealth, power, and influence. Ever since humans had just discovered how to make fire and build wheels, the circle has been going on. We know neither the time the transition happens nor how long peace or war will last. We can only try to extend eras of peace, by creating easier access to the things which we pursue and lead us to war. If finally, we can access wealth, power, and influence without any blood being shed, maybe the cycle can finally end.
