I chose the form of a hamburger to compose this painting: the top bun symbolizes the Earth we live on, the bottom bun represents the deep ocean, and the filling in between stands for the marine ecosystem—home to beautiful sea creatures but also to the threats they face, like the sea turtle trapped in a plastic bag. Through this structure, I aim to convey that the ocean is not distant or separate. Like the filling in a burger, it is a vital part that closely connects the Earth and human survival.
